“For I was hungry and you gave me food...”
Project Timothy is a Christian service center offering short-term financial assistance to residents of Dayton, Waitsburg, Starbuck, and the surrounding area in southeastern Washington.
We are a 100% volunteer ministry, supported by local churches, grants, and individual donors, so more of every gift goes directly to helping neighbors in crisis.
Christmas Basket Program
Each December, Project Timothy organizes Christmas food baskets for local families. We’re looking for volunteers and donations right now to help fill and deliver those baskets.

For neighbors seeking help
If you are facing a financial emergency, we may be able to help with basic necessities while you work to get back on your feet.
- Emergency housing or rental assistance when funding allows
- Food support and meal vouchers
- Help with essential utilities
- Columbia County public transportation tickets
- Referrals to local food banks, clinics, and other community services
We give special consideration to single parents and families with school-age children, but we welcome everyone with respect and dignity.
For those who want to give
Your generosity helps neighbors stay housed, keep the lights on, and put food on the table during a crisis.
- Project Timothy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; donations are tax-deductible.
- Our team is entirely volunteer, and we share space with All Saints Thrift Store.
- We are funded by grants, churches, local businesses, and individual donors.
- You can give online, mail a check, volunteer, or donate food and clothing.
What we do
Every request is unique. Our volunteers listen, pray with those who wish, and work with each person to discern what kind of short-term assistance or referral we can offer.
- Emergency assistance: Short-term help with rent, utilities, food, and transportation for qualifying households, as funds allow.
- Compassionate listening: Volunteers provide a safe, confidential place to share your situation and explore next steps.
- Community connections: When we cannot meet a need directly, we connect neighbors to other local agencies, churches, and ministries.
Assistance is always limited by available funds, but all who come to us are received with Christian hospitality and care.

Rooted in local churches since 1990
Project Timothy began in 1990 when local pastors and volunteers came together to respond to growing financial hardship in Columbia County. From the beginning, our mission has been to share Christ’s love in practical ways through emergency aid, pastoral care, and collaboration with other ministries.
Today, volunteers from many Christian traditions continue that work side by side. We remain committed to:
- Offering Christian hospitality to everyone who comes through our door.
- Respecting each person’s background and beliefs while gently encouraging spiritual hope for those who desire it.
- Providing practical help in times of crisis whenever our resources allow.
- Developing and supporting new programs as community needs change.
